Brandon Shell set to return to lineup; Carlos Dunlap questionable vs. Jets

Seattle Seahawks v Arizona Cardinals

RENTON -- The Seattle Seahawks have get starting right tackle Brandon Shell back for Sunday's game against the New York Jets after a two-week absence with a high-ankle sprain.

Shell, who signed with the Seahawks this season after spending his first four seasons with the Jets, was injured in the team's win over the Arizona Cardinals.

"He had a full week of practice. He did really well. He's ready to go and really no hesitation there," head coach Pete Carroll said of Shell.

Shell and backup Cedric Ogbuehi both missed the game against the New York Giants last week due to injuries. That forced Jamarco Jones to start the game at right tackle with Chad Wheeler up from the practice squad as the backup. Wheeler then had to play in the fourth quarter as Jones left with a groin injury that will keep him out of this week's game against the Jets.

Ogbuehi is also questionable to play due to a calf injury that surfaced in practice last Friday. If Wheeler is called up from the practice squad again on Saturday, it would serve as an indication that he won't be able to suit up as Shell's backup. Ogbuehi is listed as questionable.

Running backs Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde are both fully cleared and ready to play as they've managed their way through injuries the last few weeks.

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap will be a game-time decision due to a foot injury sustained against the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago. He played against the Giants last week but was limited to just 23 snaps.

"We're gonna go all the way to game time on that one," Carroll said. "We're gonna work him out in pregame, make sure he's okay, give him every day of rest to make sure that we've protected him as much as possible and hope that he can play, but we'll determine that on game day."

Running back Travis Homer is doubtful with a knee injury and will likely miss a fourth straight game. Guard Phil Haynes (hip/groin) and safety Ryan Neal (hip pointer) are questionable.

Running back Rashaad Penny and cornerback Quinton Dunbar won't play this week but were able to return to practice. Carroll was gushing about the way Penny looked in his first week of work this season after an ACL tear last year.

"Rashaad Penny looked great. I mean, he looked great," Carroll said. "He exceeded our expectations with his movement and his quickness and all of that. He's really in good shape. I don't know what that means for next week but he looked as healthy as anybody out there. So we'll take it one shot at a time here but very, very positive initial return and I know he's really jacked about it."

The update on Dunbar was not quite as enthusiastic.

"Quinton's not ready this week. He practiced all the three days but he's not ready yet," Carroll said.

Dunbar is working back from a knee injury that forced him to injured reserve after the loss to the Buffalo Bills.
